Girls Cross Country Captures 2nd at Fox Invitational, Gearing Up For Post-Season This past weekend, the girls cross country team competed in the Fox Invitational. The team claimed a 2nd place trophy in the 13 team field. Laura Hmiel (11) was the teams top placer followed by Colleen Riley (9), Jane McKibben (11), Grace Watt (9) Ally Thompson (12) and Mallory Norval (11). The varsity team will take a week off after this meet before making a push for a strong post-season in October. The Lady Flyers were carrying the momentum into this weekend from last weekend's Parkway Central meet. The Lady Flyers won a CHAMPIONSHIP at the Parkway Central Invitational. All 7 runners earned medals, an extraordinarily unusual feat. Colleen Riley (9), Laura Hmiel (11), Ally Thompson (12), Jane McKibbon (11), Grace Watt (9), Gretchen Mueller (11) and Mallory Norval (11) were the athletes that made the Championship possible. The Lady Flyers kicked off the 2007 season by competing in the 15 team field. Lindbergh made a strong debut with a 3rd place finish. Six runners competed in the varsity division for the Flyers and 5 were medalists. In the field of over 100 runners, Freshmen Colleen Riley finished 4th in her first high school race. Junior Laura Hmiel was 7th. Junior Jane McKibbon placed 17th. Freshmen Grace Watt also made an impressive debut with a 23rd place finish. Sophomore Claire Mueller was 24th to round out the scorers for Lindbergh.
Thursday, September 6th - Webster Invitational
The Lady Flyers JV were promoted into the varsity division at this meet and finished 5th in the field of over 12 teams. Medalists were Junior Ellie Bruns, senior Rachel Klotz, freshmen Sophia Meyer, Senior Sarah Ghidina and junior Kaitlyn Henning were the top 5 runners who provided the team score and earned medals. Impressive debut ladies.
Saturday, September 8th - Mizzou Cross Country Classic
Four Lady Flyers earned Medalist status at the 13 team race at the University of Missouri, The field of teams was very strong representing top programs in Missouri and neighboring states. Lindbergh finished 3rd. Junior Laura Hmiel was Lindbergh's top placer followed by Colleen Riley (9), Grace Watt (9) and Claire Mueller (10). Junior Mallory Norval was the final scorer for Lindbergh and ran a huge personal best time of 21:44.

Congratulations to the Lady Flyers cross country team on SWEEPING the Conference Championships over the weekend. All five varsity girls, Laura Hmiel, Colleen Riley, Grace Watt, Jane McKibben and Ally Thompson, were medalists earning All-Conference honors. The JV ladies also won the Conference Championship with the top 5 girls, Sophia Meyer, Emily Lancer, Ellie Bruns, Rachel Klotz and Sarah Ghidina, earning medals as well. Congrats also to Sr Brian Petersen and Jr Nolan Bevirt for attaining All-Conference honors as well. Senior Ally Thompson earned All-Conference honors for a fourth straight year. |
