STL Prepsports Team Page (Boys) STL Prepsports Team Page (Girls) LHS Girls Cross Country and Track & Field Home Page LATEST NEWS Cross Country Teams Headed to State The boys and girls cross country teams will be heading to the state championships this weekend. On their way to state, both teams displayed dominant efforts in conference meets, district meets, and sectionals. Boys competing at state this weekend include Nolan Bevirt, Dustin Capehart, Taylor Kramer, Danny Deposki, Matt Deposki, Blake Welch, Dominic Tillman, Jacob Luciani, Bill Iverson, Joey Dipaola, and Michael Rich. Girls heading to state include Ellie Bruns, Mallory Norval, Laura Hmiel, Jane McKibben, Gretchen Mueller, Kristin Burns, Molly Moran, Claire Mueller, Colleen Riley, Grace Watt, Sophia Meyer, Connie Bevirt, Lindsey Ganter, Abby Klosterman, and Dana Pieper. The boys started out their championship run by winning the Suburban West Conference meet. Black Welch placed 2nd, Nolan Bevirt placed 3rd, Danny Deposki placed 17th, Taylor Kramer placed 18th, Dustin Capehart placed 22nd, and Dominic Tillman placed 26th. This was the Flyers first conference championship in over 20 years. In the JV race, Drew Templeton took 1st place and Matt Deposki took 7th place. Jacob Luciani, Bill Iverson, and Joey Dipaola placed 2nd, 3rd, and 5th respectively in the freshman conference race. The boys then took their run to capture a third consecutive district championship. Blake Welch placed 3rd, Nolan Bevirt placed 7th, Taylor Kramer placed 9th, Dustin Capehart placed 16th, and Dominic Tillman placed 18th. They boys then qualified for the 2nd time in 3 years for state when they had 7 runners qualify for state including Nolan Bevirt (10th), Blake Welch (12th), Taylor Kramer (30th), Danny Deposki (35th), Dominic Tillman (38th), Dustin Capehart (41st) and Matt Deposki.
T Even more rare was the Individual sweep. The team set the goal to win every race indivually and as a team. Colleen Riley (10) was the varsity Conference Champion. Sophia Meyer (10) won the JV division and the Freshmen/sophomore race was won by freshmen Dana Pieper. The Lady Flyers were ranked 7th in the state heading into the Sectional Championships on November 1st. Four teams would advance to the State Championship Race but the field of teams included six teams ranked in the top 10 in the state. Regardless of the outcome, two highly-ranked teams would see their seasons end. The atmosphere was understandably intense as the gun started the race. The Lady Flyers sold out to qualify their team. The team placed 3rd in a close team score to qualify the team to the State Championships for the 3rd straight year. One hundred teams start the season with "State" as a goal. Sixteen teams qualify and will compete and the Flyers will try to improve on their 8th and 7th place finishes the past two seasons.
